2024 Fly Together Grant Guidelines
Under the leadership of Anaheim Ducks owners Susan and Henry Samueli, philanthropic
support and engagement are commitments ingrained into the identity and culture of our team,
staff and fan base. Since its inception in 2008, the Anaheim Ducks Foundation has been
dedicated to serving Southern California families.
Just as a Ducks win represents the collective effort and achievement of the individual players on
the ice (and, of course, the coaches and trainers off the ice as well), our community is uplifted
when its members can achieve their maximum potential. Through the Anaheim Ducks
Foundation Fly Together grant program, we invite nonprofit organizations to share the
innovative and thoughtful ways they are creating access and opportunity to enrich lives and
strengthen community well-being. When we Fly Together, we all win!
Eligibility Information
Please review the following criteria to determine if your organization is eligible to apply for an
Anaheim Ducks Foundation Fly Together grant.
The mission of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation is to facilitate and support programs that
produce positive change for children and families throughout Southern California by providing
educational opportunities, broadening access to the sport of hockey, and addressing the health
and wellness needs of our community.
Organizations must be classified as a public charity in good standing and exempt from federal
taxes under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The following are the primary interests of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation Fly Together grant
program:
Education: Organizations that promote the value of quality education for all children
through innovative, engaging and challenging in-school or after-school programs.
Health and Well-being: Organizations that focus on strengthening the mental and
physical health or welfare of all youth and families through community awareness,
treatment or preventive care.
Access to Sport: While the Anaheim Ducks Foundation’s mission focuses on hockey, we
recognize the benefits for youth to have access to all sports and the joy of playing.
Grant applications will be accepted from organizations that provide access to fitness,
teamwork, self-esteem, leadership and positive role models through community
outreach, youth development or mentorship programs.
The geographic focus for Fly Together grants is on organizations and programs serving the
Orange County community. Surrounding Southern California areas may also be considered.
The Anaheim Ducks Foundation is supported by generous contributions from fundraising
events, donors and Anaheim Ducks fans and corporate partners. With limited resources, the
Anaheim Ducks Foundation grants only a small percentage of the organizations submitting an
application. Declined proposals are not a reflection of the worthiness of the organization’s
mission or programs.
Application Information
The Anaheim Ducks Foundation will accept completed proposals via online submission until
5:00 PM on August 16, 2024. Applications received after 5:00 PM on August 16, 2024, will not
be considered for funding. Mailed, faxed or emailed applications will not be accepted.
Incomplete applications will not be considered for funding.
Proposals will be assessed with the following criteria:
Mission: The mission of the organization and/or the proposed project is aligned with the
mission of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation.
Proposal: The proposal has articulated the program with evidence for a community
need and how it aligns with your organization’s mission.
Evaluation: The program has clear goals and objectives, a realistic timeline and an
outline to define success.
Leadership & Staff: The leadership, including staff and Board of Directors, consists of
members who are qualified to plan and/or implement the organization’s mission and
programs.
Finances: The financial stability of the organization demonstrates the capacity to
implement the proposed project with a clearly defined budget.
Funding Information
A qualified nonprofit organization may submit one application annually. Receiving previous
support of any kind (financial or in-kind) from the Anaheim Ducks Hockey Club and/or the
Anaheim Ducks Foundation neither guarantees nor eliminates the possibility of funding in the
current or future grant cycles.
Grants generally will range from $5,000 to $20,000. Grants will be awarded as a one-time
payment for the one-year period. Multi-year grants will not be awarded.
Grants will be given for both program support and general operating expenses.
Funds will not be granted to any of the following:
Umbrella/pass-through fundraising organizations (exception for organizations serving as
the contracted fiscal sponsor of an applicant)
Individuals
Political campaigns or lobbying organizations
Individual religious organizations (except for non-proselytizing programs that serve the
community, regardless of religious orientation)
Labor, fraternal or social organizations or clubs (except for programs that service the
community)
Special event fundraiser sponsorships
Endowments
PTAs or booster clubs
The Anaheim Ducks Community Relations department will review submitted proposals based
on organization/project eligibility and application completion. A volunteer committee
consisting of Anaheim Ducks community and club representatives will evaluate eligible and
complete applications and recommend grants for funding.
The Anaheim Ducks Foundation will not make grants to programs designed for direct financial
benefit to the Anaheim Ducks Hockey Club.
For the Anaheim Ducks Foundation Fly Together 2024 cycle, grants will be paid out in Fall 2024.
